About Us

R.H. Topham & Sons Ltd has deep agricultural roots, dating back to at least the early 1900s when the Topham family first farmed tenanted land in Eltisley, Cambridgeshire. After World War II, three brothers (Ray, George, and Bob) began working together, renting land and growing their independent farming operations.

In 1952, Ray Topham moved to Monks Hardwick near St Neots, and by 1965, R.H. Topham & Sons Ltd was formed. Over the decades, the farm expanded, acquiring land across Abbotsley, Eynesbury, and Croxton, evolving into a thriving, family-run business. The business now farms land concentrated around St Neots, Croxton, and Eltiseley. Our journey reflects a deep respect for the land and a commitment to long-term farming success.

At R.H. Topham & Sons Ltd, we manage a diverse and sustainable agricultural operation spanning some 1,590 hectares in Cambridgeshire. Our farming practices blend tradition with modern technology, ensuring that we produce high-quality crops while protecting the environment.

We focus on crop rotation and soil health, with a third of our land spring drilled. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is reflected in the 107 hectares of woodland we manage, along with our participation in government Higher Level Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive schemes.

Our adoption of modern technology, such as data capture and analytics, allows us to make informed decisions that optimise productivity and reduce waste. With a balance of traditional farming knowledge and modern techniques, we aim to provide a stable, sustainable food supply for generations to come.

The Whitehall Industrial Site has become an important part of the business over the past few decades. Originally adapted from former agricultural grain stores which were no longer suitable for modern machinery, it has steadily grown into a 75,000 sq ft site offering a range of commercial units.

Today, it’s home to a diverse mix of tenants across various industries, with spaces suited to manufacture, workshops, storage, offices, and more. The site is managed with a long-term, practical approach, maintaining flexibility and reliability for businesses of all sizes.
